Girl Friday was founded in 2020 with a simple idea: awareness about global issues drives action.
And, what have we learned along the way?
Our journey thus far has proven that people want to work together “for a world of good.” In addition to consulting with clients, through the Dear Girl Friday platform, we have book clubs, book giveaways, a newsletter about pressing issues, and a guide to critical world events.
Phoenix Ricks is the founder and CEO of Girl Friday, a global affairs firm based in Washington, D.C. Girl Friday started in 2020 with a newsletter about pressing international issues and then blossomed into a consultancy.
Previously, Phoenix led public affairs and social impact initiatives for SHEIN in the U.S. and for PepsiCo in Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. Before joining the private sector, she directed public diplomacy programs at the U.S. Department of State, worked in water quality monitoring at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and managed policy communications for two human rights non-profits.
She has degrees in the sciences, public affairs, and crime writing from Howard University, American University, and the University of Cambridge, respectively.
When Phoenix is not working with clients, she writes fiction under the penname Pixie Carlisle.
